Education Requirements
PCCLB Specialty Contractors must have all education requirements satisfied and current in order to renew license(s) in all odd-numbered years.
For renewals, mandatory continuing education requirements for PCCLB specialty contractors are:
- Specialized or advanced module course approved by the Florida Building Commission or the Board
- Workplace safety
- Business practices
- Workers’ compensation
- Laws and rules regulating the construction industry
- Wind mitigation methodologies if license is held in the following categories: specialty structure or glass and glazing.
Fourteen (14) total hours are required. Balance of hours after mandatory courses are taken are courses of your choice.
New contractor licenses issued to Pinellas County Certified Contractors after January 1 in a year in which continuing education is required will not be required to produce proof of Continuing Education in that renewal year.
Note: The PCCLB will not renew licenses for contractors doing Marine Pile Driving, Dock & Seawall construction, Jetty or Breakwater, Dike or Revetment Construction without proof of USL&H coverage and/or workers’ compensation insurance coverage with class code 6006F.
